Happy 4th Of July! (almost) I found the idea for these cake pops on Pinterest. The original creator is Momfluential you can find her post on them here (hers are cake balls, not pops). The 4th of July happens to be one of my favorite holidays so this idea has been stuck in my head ever since I found them. The design is really simple and absolutely adorable! :)
Things you will need:
Cake mix
Frosting
White melting candy or bark
Sprinkles ( I used red and blue)
Sour patch candy straws
Yellow sanding sugar
Sticks
Foam block
1. Prepare your cake mix as directed, allow to cool
2. Crumble the cake into a mixing bowl
3. Add small amounts of frosting until the mixture is sticky
4. Use a scoop/spoon to remove mixture and roll into balls
5. Place balls on a baking sheet and in freezer for 5-10 minutes
6. Trim down sour patch straws to your desired length to create the "fuse"
7. Melt white candy
8. Dip the tip of a stick into the melted candy and insert it about half way into the the ball, let dry
9. Submerge the entire pop into the melted candy and tap off excess
10. While the pop is still wet insert the "fuse" and add red & blue sprinkles, place on foam block to dry
10. Dip the dip of the "fuse" into the melted candy, cover with yellow sanding sugar sprinkles
Below are pictures of some caramel vanilla cake pops I made for a 4th of July BBQ. The tags are from my new favorite website, Printabelle. If you haven't been to her website I highly suggest stopping by and checking out her awesome selection of printables!
Enjoy your 4th of July! :)

McCormick Spice!
Awhile back I stumbled upon a Pinterest contest that McCormick Spice was hosting so I entered and was chosen as a winner!

My recreation idea came from this Easter Cupcake recipe

I ended up with these Easter Basket Cake Pops ( A tutorial for these can be found HERE)

Duncan Hines!

These are my winning Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pops!
This weekend I flew out to New Jersey to participate in the Duncan Hines Frosting Creations Recipe Challenge Winners Weekend! The challenge was to create your own recipe using the new Duncan Hines product Frosting Creations. The prize included a trip to Parsippany, New Jersey for a tour of the incredibly awesome Duncan Hines/Pinnacle test kitchen and a decorating/technique class with Chef Joe Dipaolo.

Twelve winners were chosen, one for each flavor.

I was chosen for the Cinnamon Roll flavor and my winning recipe was for Cinnamon Caramel Apple Pops (You can find the recipe HERE)
When we arrived we were greeted by the Duncan Hines staff on a red carpet and given adorable red aprons that were scrolled with "Duncan Hines Frosting Creations"
Our first stop was the ideation room. It had big monitors that had a slide show with pictures of each winner and their winning recipe.
Next we learned more about all the people involved in bringing Frosting Creations to life and got to see the very first version of the product (It resembled a crystal light drink packet)
A great feature in the ideation room were its dry erase walls, perfect for keeping track of new ideas! We wrote our suggestions for new flavors. Mine were Margarita, Peanut butter, Grape (Jelly), and Peach.
After that we were off to tour the rest of the facility. The staff showed us where research for new products takes place and explained everything that goes into product research. We were also able to sample some new products that will be available in the future :)
We then were able to go into the pastry kitchen with Chef Joe to learn really helpful tips and techniques for decorating. The staff at Duncan Hines went above and beyond by gifting us with not only a copy of The Pastry Chef's Companion but also a decorating kit that included but was not limited to a Wilton turntable, tips, piping bags, icing smoothers, and so much more! I'm really excited to receive that package in the mail!
Piping is not my thing but Chef Joe showed us some great tips on how to fill and use a piping bag that I'm looking forward to trying out in the future.
Chef Joe also taught us about sugar molding, marzipan, using a blow torch, and piping plates.
My favorite part was working with modeling chocolate and making roses!

Marble Cake Pops!
-Construct your cake pops as usual
- Melt your colored candy ( Each color in a separate container)
- Use one color as your "base" (I chose brown) tap off excess
-While your "base" color is still wet use a small spoon to drizzle on your 2nd color (mine is white)
- In an empty bowl tap off excess, place on a foam block to dry.
(I added a shimmer pearl dust to these)
Tips!
* You can use however many colors your want, the more colors you use the more unique each pop will be
* Be sure to work fast so the melted candy doesn't start to dry and become thick or bulky on your pop
* To get thinner marbled lines you can use a butter knife to drizzle
Here are a few more designs I've created with this technique
These were made with a Dodger fan in mind.

Good luck & Happy cake popping :)

Zebra Cupcake Stand!
Here is an easy tutorial on how to make your own 2 tier treat stand! This will work great for cupcakes, cake pops, cookies, brownies, candy bark, and lots more!

These are the things you will need

- Candle stick holder, found at the dollar store
- E-6000 glue
- Rhinestones
- 2 Plates, I found these zebra ones at a 99 cent store
1. First paint your candle stick holder, it may take a few coats to cover it completely
2. Once your candle stick holder is painted and dry you can start to apply rhinestones using your E-600
3. After your rhinestones have dried, apply glue to the bottom of the candle stick holder and in center on top of one of your plates (this will be the bottom tier) let sit for 2 minutes and then press the plate and candle stick together, allow to dry for several hours.
4. Apply glue to the top of the candle stick holder and in the center underneath your second place (this will be your top tier), let sit for 2 minutes, press together and allow to dry for several hours or over night.
Now go bake some treats and put your new dessert stand to work :)
*For best results follow the gluing directions provided on your E-600 glue.

Easter Basket Cake Pops!
A few days ago I got an order for Easter cake pops and the customer didn't have a design preference she just wanted something to reflect Easter so I decided to go with miniature Easter baskets.
For your pops you will need these items
1. A cake mix ( Any flavor you want to use)
2. Frosting
3. Melting candy or Chocolate Bark
4. Cake pop sticks
For decorating you will need these items
1. Shredded coconut
2. Green food coloring
3. Twine for the handle
4. Jelly Beans
Making your pop-
1. First prepare your mix and bake it, for this order I'm using the flavor red velvet.
2. After your cake has cooled, in a large mixing bowl begin to crumble it.
3. Once your cake is crumbled begin to stir in small amounts of frosting until you reach a sticky consistency. You want to add just enough frosting to get your mix to stick together. For a whole cake you should use about half a can.
4. Using a scoop or spoon take out some of the mixture and start to form a ball. To get a nice basket shape flatten one side of the ball, this is where the grass and jelly beans will sit.
5. When you have all of your balls shaped put them in the freezer for about 5 minutes.
6. Once your balls are out of the freezer take a stick dip it in your melting candy and insert it into the ball.
7. After your sticks have dried you can now dip the entire pop in your melting candy. After your pop has been submerged into the melted candy tap off any access and place on a Styrofoam block to dry.
8. Once your pops are completely dry you can move on to the fun part, decorating! :)
Decorating your pop-
1. Place your shredded coconut in a ziplock bag with a few drops of green food coloring, shake the bag until your coconut is coated green like grass.
2. Attach your grass to the flat side of your basket using melted candy as "glue" and let it dry
3. Use more of the melted chocolate "glue" to attach jelly beans of your choice
4. After your pop is dry you can focus on the handle. I chose to use twine because I like the way it looks. If you want to use something edible you can roll a tootsie roll into a handle shape or use a twizzler. To use the twine method measure out enough to reach from one side of your pop to the other then apply melted candy to one side and place the end of your twine on top of it then add a small amount of the melted candy on top of the twine, hold it in place to dry. Do the same to the other side. Once both sides are dry you will end up with an adorable Easter basket cake pop!

(Bare with me on the pictures. My Rebel is being cleaned so until I get it back my phone is what I'll be using!)
